The realistic case is coastal and in-port work, where a crew is inside cellular coverage: linesmen, pilots, tugs, bunkering, stevedores and the terminal office all reaching each other without a handheld VHF each.
Marine VHF is open by design and anyone with a scanner hears it. That is correct for safety traffic and wrong for commercial traffic — cargo, customers, crew matters and security arrangements all go out in the clear.
To be explicit: push.tt does not replace VHF. Distress, safety and navigation traffic belong on GMDSS and Ch 16, which are monitored by people who are not on your channel. This is commercial coordination alongside it, never instead of it.
Stated plainly, because at sea the failure mode is being out of contact and finding out too late.
If continuous offshore coverage matters, treat this as a coastal and in-port tool and keep your existing radio. We would rather scope it honestly than sell a vessel a system that goes quiet twelve miles out.
One terminal, one channel, one week is enough to tell whether the crew keeps using it.
